“Those who stay in a certified accommodation are not simply visitors, but guests in the authentic heart of the Cinque Terre.”
Choosing a property with the CETS Mark means staying, even if only temporarily, in a living protected area, with the certainty of staying in the Cinque Terre; supporting local businesses committed every day to the environment, the landscape, and the community; and accessing exclusive benefits, such as discounts on the Cinque Terre Card, which includes public transportation, guided tours, cultural admissions, Park experiences, and much more. The Cinque Terre Card itself, in its discounted version for guests of certified accommodations, is one of the key tools of the Park's strategy: not only a financial benefit, but a concrete incentive to increase average stays, promote tourist residence, and better distribute visitor flows over time. In the first half of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, sales of the 2-day Cinque Terre Card increased by 4%, those of the 3-day Card by 8%, while the Family Card recorded a significant growth of 32%.
"Tourism," says Park President Lorenzo Viviani, "must be evaluated not only for its economic impact, but also for how it fits into the social fabric. It can be a source of exchange, culture, and well-being only if it reclaims a dimension of respect and profound exploration. When it isn't experienced as an encounter, it generates conflict. This is why the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism places the theme of circularity at its core: creating value that endures, that returns to the places, that is regenerated in the form of services, relationships, and shared projects. The Cinque Terre Card itself," the president continues, "is a tool for this circular vision: the resources collected are reinvested in the territory, in landscape maintenance, in support of public services, and in municipal projects. Through the CETS, the Park weaves a network of operators, associations, institutions, and people who live and work here.
